Made a trip to Fayetteville, NC in a 2-horse wagon for supplies. On the return trip home, near Candor, NC, the horses spooked, the wagon overturned, and John H18ardin was fatally injured. His son, Charles Harrison, survived. John died in a nearby farmhouse and his young son sat up the rest of the night with the body.
